Sande Lucas
From the Rwanda border of Uganda, Sande Lucas was introduced to
painting by his famous artist father Jak Katarikawe, but despite
this important start, his work remains unique in style.
His paintings are of the here and now, and visions of Western
Kenya which the artist encounters everyday. His pictures are of
humanity - playing cards, dancing, milking the cows, even a crowd
around a newspaper. All Sande Lucas are rendered in the subtle,
careful oil colours and sensitive naive forms with which he has
become synonymous.
Sande Lucas, who is represented by Gallery Watatu says that art
is everything to him, and it gives him the forum to communicate
to the world.
