Record Broken at the Re Launch of Gallery Watatu
Kenyan artist Wanyu Brush affiliated to Gallery Watatu has sold his painting ' Never, Never, Never Again' based on the post election violence on the opening night of the re-launch of Gallery Watatu.
Commenting on the sale, the artist said 'I am very happy not with the sale of the painting but with the fact that Osei G. Kofi the new CEO Designate has delivered on his promise to uplift artists and get the gallery back to its former glory. After decades of blockage the wall is finally down. We can only continue advancing.'

Never, Never Again by Wanyu Brush | 109 cms by 53 cm | Oil on Canvas | 2011
The painting is very evocative, bringing out the scenes of the post election violece that rocked the country leading some to describe it as Kenya's Guernica.
It's reputation has certainly preceeded itself, what with its purchase by an Italian collector barely moments after the opening of the exhibition for 2 million kshs – over 20,000 EURO!
It is one of the highest prices paid for a Kenyan painting and a personal record for the artist.
