Chain
Muhandi
Chain Muhandi painting career started in early school age. While
he was in school, he took keen interest in drawing, which he did
for fun not knowing that he could take it up as his career later
in life. After leaving school he started painting. He soon realised
he had a talent for art and thus became his chosen path.
He started working in batik in 1978, and continued working in
this medium until the late 1980's. At the Chain Muhandi same time
however he experimented with oil painting and quickly realised
that this was the medium that best suited his skills. He has exhibited
in several countries and held two workshops in Germany on contemporary
art of East Africa.
